How to use a phone holder on a plane
An airplane phone holder turns your phone into a seat-back screen. Here is how to set it up in under a minute and keep it steady for the whole flight.
On the tray table
- Lower the tray and wipe the front edge.
- Push the inner button and open the bottom clamp.
- Close it on the thin front edge of the tray.
- Put the phone in the top clamp and turn it to eye level.
Without a tray
Some seats have trays in the armrest or no space to lower them. Flex the lower part of the holder backwards to make a stand and put it on the tray, a book or a power bank, or clip it to the edge of the seat-back pocket frame where the airline allows.
Take-off, landing and turbulence
Fold the holder away when the crew asks for trays up. In turbulence the clamp keeps the phone in place, but keep drinks away from the screen. Download films before the flight and bring headphones, and the whole row stays quiet.
