How to choose a MagSafe phone holder
Magnetic holders are the fastest way to mount a phone — if the magnet, the mount and the case all match. Here is what to check.
Where will it mount?
- Tray tables and desks: a clamp base with a magnetic head.
- Gym racks, fridges, golf carts: a magnetic base for steel.
- Glass, mirrors and tiles: a suction-cup base.
Your phone and case
MagSafe iPhones attach straight to a magnetic head, and MagSafe-compatible cases keep the hold. Thick cases, wallet cases and phones without MagSafe need a thin metal or magnetic ring on the back of the case.
Angle and grip
Look for a head that rotates 360° and tilts, so you can switch between portrait for calls and landscape for films, and a base that holds its position without creeping.
